Since
the year 2000, KRESTO® hand cleaner has been proud to sponsor
Gilmer Hinshaw of Burlington, NC. Gilmer competes in the Top Sportsman
and Super Rod classes of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).
Gilmer’s personal goals are to put the KRESTO® cars at the
top of their class and to make KRESTO® the primary hand cleaner
of IHRA drivers and teams.
Career highlights
include a national championship title in the Super Rod class in 1998
and national race wins in Richmond, VA and Ontario,
Canada in 2001. Gilmer finished 8th in the national points standings
in the Super Rod Class in his first full year of IHRA competition.
In 2000, Hinshaw moved up to the Top Sportsman class and finished
that year 11th in the points standings.
In 2004, Gilmer added some divisional races in the National Hot
Rod Association (NHRA) to his busy race schedule. Incredibly, he
took two wins in the Top Sportsman class in the first three NHRA
races that he ran. Wins came in Orlando, FL and Cecil, GA.
Racing is a family event in the Hinshaw family. Wife Debbie and
son, Jason both compete in divisional Quick Rod class races. At several
times during 2004, all three Hinshaws, as well as friend Danny Waters
who frequently also drives a KRESTO car in the Quick Rod class, appeared
in the Top 10 in the divisional points standings. Waters placed took
a divisional win in the Quick Rod class in 2004.
